Simply Muslim Marriages is a concept which has been instigated by a young group of dynamic individuals who themselves have witnessed the growing problem of brothers and sisters seeking to get married. It was established in late 2006 and it is already gaining popularity with both individuals and companies. But what makes Simply Muslim Marriages different from all the other matrimonial services you’ve seen? To answer this lets look at the philosophy behind the group.
The group is made up of Sister Nadia who is the founder of the organisation, her husband Faisal, His sister Nadiea and her husband Shahid.
With interaction amongst family and friends we began to notice that marriage was an important topic which unfortunately was not being addressed as it should. After extensive research we found out that there is a gap in the market for an Islamic matrimonial service. People want a service where they and their families can meet up in a Halaal way.
Whilst the group was collaborating ideas, Sister Nadia who is a volunteer for Muslim Hands decided to raise funds for orphans in a venture called `Its my project’ She set a target of £15,000 for an orphanage to be built in a developing Islamic country. As excited and energetic as she is, she mailed all who she knew and waited. As she found out, it was going to be harder then she expected to hit the target.
After a brainstorming session with family, we came up with the concept which is now known as Simply Muslim Marriages. An Islamic matrimonial service that will provide its services in a Halaal way and all profit will go towards building an orphanage. A website was established by Brother Shahid and our proposals where put out for the Muslims living in UK. Within a short span of time the website was getting hit with many interested individuals who where seeking a service just like SMM.
After a couple of months Simply Muslim Marriages went out for the first time in the public domain known as the `Global Peace and Unity’. SMM worked in conjunction with Muslim Hands in distributing flyers and advertising the organisation. By the grace of Allah swt it received great interest. After this experience we decided to launch this service to companies and organisations as the role of a Sponsor. I am pleased to announce that at present we have had the support and sponsor of the following companies:-
- Azirah Chocolate Fountains (Sponsor)
- The Hijab Shop (Sponsor)
- Asia Dining (Sponsor)
- Simply Islam (Supporter. Kindly donated a Digital Qur’an)
- Meem Music (Supporter. Kindly donated signed nasheed albums)
SMM’s work has also been recognised by the media. The Guardian newspaper had a Muslim podcast section in which they wanted to do a feature on the event.
Insha-Allah the vision of SMM is to continue this work and help as many individuals as we can to look for their potential partners within a Muslim environment here in the UK and help in providing a shelter for orphans. |
